Several years ago, a company named Cedarcide marketed that their cedar oil-based products, "Cedarcide Original" and "Best Yet" could potentially treat and prevent bed bug and head lice infestations.

The company also claimed that these products were invented for the US Army. They also added that their bed bug product was acknowledged by the USDA as the #1 choice of bio-based pesticides. The company was proven guilty of violating a 2013 Commission order barring them from making scientifically unsupported claims.
